It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we only have a few days left of 2024.
Have you slowed down and readjusted from the Christmas rush yet? I find that the week after Christmas is a fantastic opportunity to pause to reflect on what was and anticipate new beginnings for the coming year.
If you're anything like me, this is one of your favorite times of year because it’s full of potential.
The new year is traditionally a time of optimism and hope, holding the promise of dreams fulfilled and the opportunity for growth and success. That’s the reason so many of us keep making new year’s resolutions - because we want to start the new year strong. We want to let go of the old worn out baggage that weighs us down and move into a year of greater freedom, focus, productivity, and blessing.
SMART goals. Daily planners. A word for the year. Vision boards.
I have used each of these strategies more than once to move into my next “best” year. While I can’t say I’ve gotten close to accomplishing everything I’d hoped to, those tools did help keep me focused and moving forward in faith. But while planners and journals and vision boards and words can be helpful to bring clarity and accountability, I have found more than anything, it’s important to consult with God first.
What is His best for this year? Where does He want my focus? How can I align my priorities better with His?
Most self-improvement gurus will tell you that creating an actionable plan is the missing link in achieving your new year’s resolutions. But I say as a child of God, deeply loved and created in His image and for His Good purposes, He is the missing link. Vision is great, but God’s vision is best. So let’s include Him in our planning. Let’s seek His best and make sure our priorities are in proper order before we attempt to set goals and fill up our calendar with tasks and projects. Let’s get a Holy Spirit–inspired revelation for this year that will propel us forward with clarity and God-given power!
