Earth Day: a godly perspective š
Have you noticed how our adversary, the devil, likes to take the good things of God and distort and destroy them?
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8
We see that in marriage, family, money, sex, music, identity, you name it. And we see it in creation.
April is earth month, with earth day falling on April 22nd. If you have kids or grandkids in public schools, then youāre probably all too familiar with the sounding alarm in classrooms around the country talking about the environment, and all the harm we have caused āmother earth.ā
Now, Iām a proponent of being a good steward of this earth and the resources God has given, thereās no question about that. Honestly, Iād like to see more of a stewardship focus in the church, as I believe many times Christians are criticized for excess and poor stewardship with good reason.
But all the hype around climate change, and the fear it breeds is of the enemy. The reason I know this is because I see where it comes from. Its very foundation is built on a lie, and the Bible tells us where lies originate.
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
The fact that the mainstream environmental narrative leaves out God the Creator in favor of āmother earth,ā shows it canāt be trusted. While it may seem harmless, this false narrative misleads our children and can actually damage their relationship with God.
Knowing God as the Creator, and understanding we have been created in His image with purpose and given dominion over this earth is foundational to a proper understanding of the Bible and what Jesus did for us.
This is why I am thrilled to present a godly alternative to Creation and earth day for young readers. One that is grounded in Godās truth in the Bible.
In this first book in the Guess How Much God Loves You picture book series, Lucy begins her journey through the Bible exploring how this marvelous, majestic world was created intentionally by God the Creator, who spoke this world into existence and called it good. Who created people in His image, and for a good purpose. Humans didnāt evolve from apes, and the world wasnāt created through random processes.
This is a very different narrative from what kids are taught these days, and Iām grateful to offer it through this book.
When kids realize they were created in Godās image and given responsibility to care for this beautiful earth, it gives meaning to their lives and will help foster a sense of respect for the earth. Respect for all of Godās creation.
The first book covers each day of Creation and will help parents, grandparents, and teachers instill Godās perspective on this earth, and the people in it, with tons of opportunities to reinforce earth month from a godly perspective to your kids and grandkids, by learning about things like the oceans, sea and land animals, trees, and flowers.
In fact, Iām running a special this month that includes a digital workbook perfect for earth month ā¬ļø

Such a wonderful childrenās picture book that I sincerely believe should be added to every public, church, and home library! Our world needs books that encourage children to seek answers rooted in biblical truth, and Karen does a seamless job using inquisitive first-grader Lucy Lu and her Papa Joe to show kids itās okay to ask questions because asking questions is how we start to build our relationship with our Creator. Furthermore, the book teaches young people that they are created in Godās image with purpose and that Godās love is unconditional. Highly recommended for elementary age students!

Karen Ferguson wrote such a sweet story to help little ones understand Godās love and the story of creation. When we share scripture with our children in a way they can understand itās an investment in their future. A great addition to any library.

This charming book is a beautifully illustrated adventure through the Biblical story of Creation. Vivid descriptions will teach even the youngest readers about the love of God using language they understand, and the incorporation of real-life situations we can all relate to. The included discussion questions are a valuable bonus. The book is a much-needed reminder for us all that we are formed in the image of a magnificent Creator.

This is a delightful book that teaches children two foundational truths: Godās love is unshakeable and Godās Word is incredible. With vivid illustrations which evoke emotion, Karen takes us on the creation story through the eyes of a child. This is a must read for Christian parents.

Excellent and creative story by Ferguson! My kids and I both loved the beautiful illustrations that went along with the wonderful example of the story of Creation proving how much the Lord loves sweet, little 7-year-old Lucy (and us!). It was made even more fun that my own 7-year-old daughter is a redhead, blue-eyed, freckled little girl to match! My daughterās favorite part of the story was the interactive questions at the end of the story and my sonās favorite part was the animalsāespecially learning new facts about some of them! I would highly recommend this for parents to read to their children.
